Yahoo Sports: EKU Has Potential for Cinderella Run

According to Yahoo Sports, Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball team is one of eight mid-majors with the potential to make an appearance in the 2014 NCAA tournament.
Four starters and a total of 13 letter winners return from the 2012-13 squad that won a school record 25 games and posted the second best conference mark at 12-4. The Colonels advanced to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) and picked up the program’s first victory in a national postseason tournament game in 68 years.
Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Eisenberg wrote, “The scoring punch will come from the back court, where sharpshooters Glenn Cosey and Corey Walden both space the floor by sinking 40 percent of their attempts from behind the arc. Slashing wings Tarius Johnson, Marcus Lewis and Orlando Williams take advantage of the space with their forays to the rim. They’re at their best chance when compensating for a lack of size inside by scoring efficiently and forcing turnovers on the perimeter.”
EKU begins its 2013-14 season on Friday against Florida International at the Kennesaw State Invitational. The Colonels will then play Kennesaw State on Saturday and Youngstown State on Sunday. Eastern’s first home game is on November 13.
