WKU's offense is in mid-season form

Wow! We suspected the Western Kentucky offense, under new head coach Jeff Brohm, would be explosive. I don’t think anyone in their wildest dreams thought the Hilltoppers would put up 59 points against the defending MAC Champions. However, Senior QB Brandon Doughty threw for a school-record 569 yards and six touchdowns. WKU scored at least 14 points in every quarter, and the Hilltoppers were kings of the hill yesterday, beating Bowling Green 59-31. It was Western’s first game as a member of Conference USA.
The glaring negative for Hilltopper fans was the defense. They are replacing 10 lettermen, and it showed as the WKU D gave up 31 points and 465 total yards. But that was offset by WKU’s 702 total yards of offense. Western Kentucky now gets a little extra time to prepare for its next game. It’s a showdown at the Big 10’s Illinois. Kickoff for that game is Noon eastern Time.
