WKU FOOTBALL | Toppers head into MTSU game with the state's most complete QB

10/07/2015 11:30 AM

Western Kentucky football hosts Conference USA rival Middle Tennessee State University this weekend.

The rivalry, extending back to 1914 has been labeled 100 miles of hate, for the rough distance between the two schools. MTSU has come out victorius in the last two meetings between the long time rivals, and the Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 33-29 with a tie thrown in the mix back in 1925. MTSU comes into the came with a 2-3 record, having given up a fourth quarter lead to Vanderbilt last Saturday. But their losing record proves nothing to Topper coach Jeff Brohm who expects a difficult conference matchup.

Western is looking to add a win to their MSTU series column, but need this win to move to a 5-1 record. And with the way quarterback Brandon Doughty has been playing, their is little cause for Topper concern. Doughty has thrown for 2000 yards in his first five games this season, and connected 15 passes for touchdowns. We asked former quarterback Adam Froman what makes Doughty so effective at the helm of the WKU offense.

The rivalry with MTSU is renewed this Saturday at noon eastern time.
