Western Kentucky University watched its football team have more players selected in the NFL draft than any other Kentucky College. The three players drafted by NFL teams from WKU is equal to those selected from Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, and Kentucky combined.

The Los Angeles Rams picked up the first Hilltopper when they selected TE Tyler Higbee in the fourth round. Quarterback Brandon Doughty was the second pick of the seventh round to the Miami DOlphins, and his defensive teammate CB Prince Charles Iworah was also a seventh round pick by the San Francisco 49ers.

Immediately after the draft, a number of Hilltoppers felt their phones start ringing with calls of free agent contract offers. All-in-all, five Western alums picked up free agent deals to make a total of eight new ‘Toppers in the NFL.
