Mike Sanford was hired as Western Kentucky football’s next head football coach on Wednesday afternoon.

He becomes the 20th football head coach in school history.

This is not the the first time Sanford will coach at Western. He was the quarterbacks coach for the Hilltoppers during the 2010 season.

Since then, he has served on the football staff at Stanford, Boise St. and Notre Dame in various capacities. Most recently, he spent the last two seasons as Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

Andrew Chernoff

Andrew is a sports anchor and sports managing editor for Spectrum News. He covers sports all across the state of Kentucky for Sports Night, which airs weeknights at 6:30 and 10:30 on Spectrum News.
