WKU FOOTBALL | Hilltoppers blow out Old Dominion for Homecoming win

Old Dominion was slightly ahead of Western Kentucky in the Conference USA Standing heading into Friday night’s game, but it was clear after the first 15 minutes that WKU was by far the better team.

Western logged 21 points in the first quarter, 31 in the second, and then cruised in the second half to a final score of 59-24 over the Monarchs. The win improves WKU’s Conference USA to 3-1, and thanks to Florida International losing, the Hilltoppers now have a share of first place in the East Division

Western quarterback Mike White returned to putting up huge numbers. The Hilltopper QB threw 378 passing yards and four touchdowns. Veteran wide receiver Taywan Taylor was White’s go-to target, catching 10 passes for 123 yards and three of the four passing touchdowns. The pass game was helped out by the ‘Topper rushing attack. On 15 rushes, Anthony Wales recorded 157 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Western will now travel to Florida Atlantic next week. A win would extend WKU’s winning streak, but would also make them bowl eligible. for the sixth straight season. FAU currently winless in conference play and the bottom of the C-USA East.
