WKU BASKETBALL | Lady Toppers Cruise to Big Win Thursday

01/18/2018 05:52 PM

The WKU women’s basketball team bounced back from its first conference loss of the season by beating UTSA on Thursday in Bowling Green.

The Lady Toppers (13-5, 4-1) took the lead for good almost halfway through the first quarter and never trailed again en route to a 73-38 win over UTSA (3-14, 1-4).

With the win, WKU remained perfect in Education Day games since the tradition began during the 2010-2011 season.

The big storyline was the Lady Toppers’ defense, which held UTSA to 12-of-60 (20.0%) shooting for the game.

The Lady Toppers’ Ivy Brown led all scorers with 19 points for the Lady Toppers. She also grabbed nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, WKU’s Tashia Brown had 17 points.

Up next for Western Kentucky is a trip to Huntington, W. Va., where it will face Marshall Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET.
