01/05/2018 04:00 PM

Western Kentucky University confirmed Friday that freshman guard Josh Anderson was ruled immediately eligible by the NCAA.

He will with the team to Marshall and will be available to participate in Saturday’s game.

The 6-foot-6, 180-pound guard missed the first 15 games of the season while the NCAA reviewed his academic course work that was completed over the summer.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-native averaged 12 points, 4.2 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game in high school at Madison Prep. He shot 65 percent from the field as a senior and led Madison Prep to its third straight state championship and its fourth title game appearance in as many years. Anderson was the only player in Madison Prep history to start all four years at the varsity level.

He was a consensus four-star recruit across all outlets coming out of high school and ranked in the top 60 nationally. Anderson also competed in the inaugural Allen Iverson Roundball Classic following his senior year.

When he takes the court for WKU, he’ll become the highest-rated recruit to take the floor for WKU in a game during the modern recruiting era.

The Hilltoppers are still awaiting word from the NCAA on redshirt sophomore forward Moustapha Diagne’s eligibility.

WKU now has nine active players; eight are on scholarship.

The Tops (10-5, 2-0 C-USA), travel to Marshall (11-4, 2-0 C-USA) for a 6:00 p.m. central showdown in Huntington, West Virginia.
