Will Jackson III ready to work in Cincinnati

The Bengals first round draft pick Will Jackson III met with the media this afternoon for the first time in Cincinnati. The Houston cornerback was smiling ear to ear from the moment he walked into the room and repeatedly referred to his selection by the Bengals as “a blessing.”

Jackson joins a talented and deep defensive backs group but is looking forward to learning from his new teammates. One specific cornerback on the Bengals roster stands out to Jackson as someone to learn from, “Pacman Jones, he’s been in the game a long time,” Jackson said. “I kind of want to get under his wing and see how he prepared and what he did to stay in the game so long. I definitely want to get under his wing and for him to be a big mentor to me.”

Jackson said he heard from a number of his new teammates on Twitter last night, and according to Marvin Lewis, the Bengals players are looking forward to welcoming Jackson to the team, “last night there was quite a bit of excitement from our team members about us selecting Will and him having the opportunity to help us get better as a football team,” said Lewis. “I think they’re anxious to get their arms around him and him to help us and help him help us. It’s exciting.”
