Why the UofL Defense gets an "A"

Coming into the UofL Spring Football game, much of the interest was directed to the Louisville offense; seeing which quarterback could take a step forward and try and claim the starting position. Reggie Bonnafon had the best day among the QBs. Almost lost in the analysis is how impressive the defense played.

The Red Team beat the White squad 59-0, meaning the red defense, which consisted primarily of veterans and starters, were able to shut down and shut out the second team offense. Still it’s impressive when you consider the Cards lost their entire starting secondary, as well as other important players, like DE/LB Lorenzo Mauldin.

After the game, several defenders agreed the defense played well but there is still a long way to go.
