Nippert Stadium was filled with 23,114 fans on Monday night for F.C. Cincinnati’s international friendly versus La Liga club Valencia C.F. Valencia head coach Marcelino compared the atmosphere at Nippert to that of a La Liga match and said he hopes Cincinnati gets into the MLS.

Valencia scored their first goal in the 62nd minute. They added a second in stoppage time on a counter from a FCC corner kick that had even goalkeeper Dan Williams in the box trying to score. Valencia tapped the ball into the goal just before Williams was able to catch up.

Former University of Cincinnati player and FCC forward, Omar Cummings announced on Sunday that he would retire after Monday night’s friendly. Cummings was honored at halftime with a framed jersey and left the field during the second half to a standing ovation. He will transition into a full-time front office role with the club, focused on their new youth academy and community initiatives.

F.C. Cincinnati will return to league play on Saturday with a match-up against Rochester at Nippert Stadium.
