USWNT Advances to Face China in Quarterfinals

The United States Women’s National Team Defeated Colombia 2-0 Monday night in the Women’s World Cup round of 16. Colombia stymied the U.S. in the first half, with both teams going to the locker room tied at zero.

However the U.S. prevailed, scoring two goals in the second half of a game that many would describe as “chippy”. Colombia goalie Catalina Perez was shown a red card in the 47th minute for a slide tackle against Alex Morgan just inside the 18 yard box. U.S. midfielders Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday each received their second yellow cards of the World Cup and will miss Friday’s match-up with China as a result.

We talked with Louisville City FC General Manager Amanda Duffy to get her take on the USWNT’s Monday night win and preview Friday’s quarterfinal game against China.
