Upsets plague the ACC in week 5

With a 20-10 win over Wake Forest, the Louisville football team avoided the upset bug in week five of the college football season. Unfortunately, a number of the conference-mates weren’t so lucky.

It’s a plague that has become all too familiar in the ACC, where teams are unexpectedly upended nearly each and every week. This week’s victims were Boston College, Pittsburgh and Duke.

The Eagles, who took down then top-10 Southern Cal just three weeks ago, lost to Colorado State. The Blue Devils had a chance to make a statement against what looked like a down Miami team, and they instead lost 22-10. And the Pitt Panthers fell flat against Akron.

There were some teams though who’s positive play didn’t go unnoticed. NC State came to play against top-ranked Florida State, but they ran out of gas late. Miami looked resurrected after struggling early in the season. And Clemson got back on track with a big win over North Carolina.
