UofL WOMEN'S BASKETBALL | Cards Make Sure to Keep "Passing the Towel"

02/17/2017 06:30 PM

The Louisville women’s basketball team has to be in the right mentality when it takes the court each night.

That same mentality is required for players to have when they check into the basketball games. And to accomplish that, they pass a towel to whoever they check in for during substitutions.

“You’re leaving the game, someone’s coming in for you, and you’re letting them know, ‘Okay, now it’s your turn,’” said senior forward Cortnee Walton.

Head coach Jeff Walz says the “passing of the towel” is to make sure the players are on the same page.

The team’s director of operations, Kate Tucker, is the one who sits on the end of the bench each game and hands the rolled-up towel to the players before they check in the game.
