UofL uses second half surge to beat Pitt

With a 69-56 win, Louisville completed the season sweep of Pittsburgh. But for the Cards, this one did not come easy.
UofL went into halftime up 27-22, but that lead was squandered quickly and eventually turned into a six-point deficit. Eventually though, Montrezl Harrell and Terry Rozier had enough, and the two took over.
The Cards shut down the Panthers with defense, and used a 22-2 run to blow open a close game. Trez finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds and an emphatic five blocks.
Rozier was the only other Card in double-figures, chipping in 22 of his own with 10 boards.
Chinanu Onuaku, Quentin Snyder, Anton Gill and Anas Mahmoud combined for 12 points. Although the numbers were not huge, they were significant. In the previous two games, these same players scored zero.
It was a boost that helped the Cards, especially considering Wayne Blackshear was forced to exit the game after just a minute of action due to a hip pointer injury, that he originally suffered in practice.
The win improves Louisville’s record to 20-4 (8-3 ACC) and keeps the Cards’ hopes alive for a first round bye in the ACC Tournament. Next up is a Saturday match-up against N.C. State. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.
