Lamar Jackson is the most talked about player in college football at the moment, and it is completely justified by his incredible stats. He has more rushing touchdowns than any other player in college football so far this season (12), over 1,300 passing yards to go with 13 passing touchdowns, and he has not played even played in multiple of the possible 16 quarters this season. He now leads the Heisman race at 2/5 odds according to Bovada, and is confidently commanding the 3rd ranked Louisville offense.
But the Cardinals are now squaring off with one of the other top teams in the country, playing 5th ranked Clemson this Saturday. The Tigers have their own dynamic quarterback in junior Deshaun Watson, who is very capable of making plays through the air or with his feet. He also only has one loss over his past 19 starts, and that was to Alabama in last year’s national title game.
They are both Heisman trophy contenders, and proven leaders in big situations, but are only one story line to an elite matchup happening Saturday night. We compared their stats and leadership qualities with a man who has been their, former Cardinal, Adam Froman.
