UofL FOOTBALL | Trumaine Washington "thinks he's tougher than anyone in the room"

11/10/2015 11:16 AM

Trumaine Washington was the standout defensive back in Louisville football’s trouncing of Syracuse last weekend. He logged a team high 12 tackles, four for loss, one sack, and a 39 yard interception return for a touchdown. His performance earned him the honor of ACC Defensive Back of the Week.

The 5’10, 183 pound sophomore’s numbers speak for its self, but the undersized DB goes against head coach Bobby Petrino’s recruiting philosophy. That’s because Petrino likes his secondary to be comprised of “big guys” like 6’5 Josh Harvey-Clemons. But what Washington lacks in height, he makes up for in heart, and has the intangibles that Petrino encourages his staff to seek out.
