10/05/2016 07:06 PM

The expansion of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is set to be finished by the start of the 2018 football season.

Mark Jurich, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, and Bobby Petrino, head football coach, made the announcement on Wednesday at press conference.

The approximately $55-million project will increase the stadium’s capacity to roughly 65,000. It will also improve the football complex.

The expansion to the stadium will feature 1,000 club seats, 70 premium boxes and 12 field level suits.

Meanwhile, the football complex will add 100,000 square feet of space, which will double the team’s weight room and conditioning center.
