Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson has been named a finalist for two national awards.
The sophomore QB has been named a finalist for both the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award.
The Maxwell Award is given to the nation’s top player. Joining Jackson as a finalist for the Maxwell Award is Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and Michigan LB/DB Jabrill Peppers.
Meanwhile, the Davey O’Brien Award is given to the top quarterback in the country. Joining Jackson as a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award is Mayfield and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Jackson’s numbers in 2016 have been extremely impressive. He is responsible for 47 touchdowns so far this season, which tied an ACC record.
In the passing game, Jackson has thrown for 3,109 yards, along with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions.
In the rushing game, Jackson leads UofL with 1,367 yards on 209 carries. He has also scored 19 rushing touchdowns on the season.
The award winners will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 8 during The Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
