The Louisville football team was on pace for one of the best seasons in program history last year, but fell off at the end of schedule by losing three straight contests.

The year still resulted in a Heisman Trophy winner and a 9-4 record, but the way the season ended left Cardinals fans questioning, “what went wrong?”

Lots of fingers were pointed at the offensive line breaking down, or mistakes on defense, and those questions will likely be a asked of head coach Bobby Petrino at today’s ACC Kickoff event in North Carolina.

We asked another man who knows a thing or two about the game of football, former U of L head coach and current Kentucky State coach, John L. Smith. He offered his thoughts on how his former team competed.
