UofL FOOTBALL | Getting to know London Iakopo

02/04/2016 05:50 PM

National Signing day is now one day in the books and the Louisville Football team restocked with 23 new Cardinals. The new commits come from all over the country, but the player potentially travelling the farthest to join his new Louisville teammates, is London Iakopo from Santa Ana, California.

Iakopo is a 6-foot, 212 pound Safety coming to U of L by way of Long Beach Community College. As a junior college transfer, Louisville coach Bobby Petrino is expecting Iakopo to immediately compete for a starting role, which is just one of the reasons the California native is excited for his relocation to the Bluegrass.

London recorded 58 tackles in 11 games for Long Beach CC last season. He is also credited with 2 interceptions and 7.5 tackles-for-loss. He played both sides of the ball in high school, turned down multiple west coast programs to play for Bobby Petrino.
