UofL football gets bowl-eligible

The University of Louisville football team got its bowl-qualifying sixth win on Saturday by beating host UConn 34-20.
UofL managed just 302 yards of offense but got big contributions from the defense and special teams. The Cards opened the game with a 100-yard kickoff return by cornerback Adrian Bushell, and closed out the scoring on Malcolm Mitchell’s 35-yard interception return touchdown.
Freshman quarterback Teddy Bridgewater passed for 177 yards and also ran for two scores. The Cards (6-5) close out the regular-season on Friday at South Florida. Louisville is currently in a five-way tie for first-place in the Big East after previous leader Cincinnati fell at Rutgers.
