UofL FOOTBALL | ESPN College GameDay coming back to Louisville

09/10/2017 01:07 PM

The 2016 meeting between Louisville football and Clemson was worthy of ESPN College GameDay, and the national sports outlet has now deemed the 2017 meeting the marquee matchup once again.

The popular college pregame show is coming to Louisville next Saturday, and will be the second time in two years the program has broadcast from Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
The last time was Louisville’s 63-20 pummeling of Florida State in week three of last season.

The 17th-ranked Cards’ ACC matchup with no. 3 Clemson is currently scheduled for 3:30 pm ET, but could be rescheduled to 8:00 pm. The 8:00 time slot is now available after Miami vs Florida State was rescheduled because of Hurricane Irma.

U of L and Clemson are both 2-0 to start the season. Louisville is coming off a 47-35 win over North Carolina, and the Tigers just beat no. 16 Auburn in an ACC / SEC showdown.

In the last meeting, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson drove his team the length of the field while trailing Clemson late in the fourth quarter. But a fourth down pass attempt to James Quick couldn’t convert a first down, and the Cards relinquished possession and the Tigers kneeled out a win. The final score in Death Valley was 42-36.
