UofL FOOTBALL | Dynamic edge rush a difference maker for Cardinal defense

09/22/2016 08:00 PM

Trevon Young’s injury in the Music City Bowl last season was devastating for Louisville football fans. He was the perfect compliment to Devonte Fields as the opposite edge rusher on the Cardinals’ defense.

Heading into 2016, a lot of responsibility was pushed onto the shoulders of junior James Hearns to help replace that production. Hearns entered the season with plenty of praise from his coaches and teammates, but Louisville fans were still yet to be convinced of his ability to pressure opposing offensive backs. Those fans have now been silenced. The duo have combined for 23 tackles already this season, and 5.5 sacks.
