UofL FOOTBALL | Coordinators Looking Forward to See What Cards' Stars Can Do in 2017

The Louisville football team hits the practice field for the first time this fall on Monday.

There is plenty of talent on this year’s Cardinal roster, but of course, two names stand out: Lamar Jackson and Jaire Alexander.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is coming off one of the best regular seasons in NCAA football history, which was capped off by him winning the 2016 Heisman Trophy.

Louisville offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway believes Jackson can find similar success this season.

“I’m expecting Lamar to have a great season,” said Galloway. “He’s stronger. He’s heavier. He’ll have a better idea of what we want to do offensively.”

Meanwhile, cornerback Jaire Alexander has high expectations set on him for the 2017 season.

Alexander led the Cards in interceptions with five last year. This year, his new defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon is already seeing Alexander’s leadership on display.

“With his talent, his enthusiasm, he keeps us going on defense,” said Sirmon.
