UofL FOOTBALL | Coaching Staff Receiving Tips from Former UofL Head Coach

If you look at the Louisville football coaching staff this season, you will not see a “special teams coordinator” on the roster.

Instead, head coach Bobby Petrino is using various positional coaches to coach different aspects of the special teams unit.

To get some insight and tips into coaching different parts of special teams, some of the UofL coaches have met with former UofL head coach and current Kentucky St. head coach John L. Smith.

“He’s always been one of the greatest special teams coaches in America,” said Petrino. “He certainly showed that when he came and worked for me at Arkansas.”

Smith was the head coach at Louisville from 1998 to 2002.
