UofL Football | Cards pick up first win in convincing fashion
09/26/2015 09:21 PM
Freshman Lamar Jackson made the most out of his second start at quarterback. Jackson accounted for almost 400 total yards, as the Cards picked up their first win of the season, by blowing out Samford 45-3.
Jackson scored the game’s first two touchdowns on runs of 14 and 13 yards. He wound up rushing for 184 yards, and passing for another 212 (15 of 22 with a touchdown and an interception.)
James Quick saw his first action since coming back from injury. The Wide Out was the leading receiver, catching three passes for 69 yards.
Of equal importance was the play of the Louisville defense, keeping the Bulldogs out of the endzone, and sacking Samford Quarterbacks twice.
The win improves the Cardinals record to 1-3, and gives the team some much needed momentum as they prepare for their trip to NC State next weekend. Kickoff from Raleigh is 12:30pm ET with the game televised on the ACC Network; consult local listings for the channel in your area.
