UofL FOOTBALL | Cards drop to #7 in AP poll

10/02/2016 06:19 PM

The Louisville Cardinals have dropped to #7 in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll, which was revealed on Sunday.

The Cards (4-1) lost their first game of the season on Saturday night at Clemson (5-0), falling 42-36 in a thriller.

With the win, Clemson jumped up to #3 in the AP Poll.

The Cardinals no longer control their own destiny to win the ACC Atlantic Division. Despite that fact, they are not yet eliminated from finishing first in their division. They also remain in the hunt for a spot in this season’s College Football Playoff, but will likely need help to achieve both goals.

Louisville has an open date on the schedule this week. It’s next game will be Friday, October 14th at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium against Duke. Kickoff in that contest is set for 7 p.m. ET.

AP Poll Top 10 (Week of October 2nd):

1. Alabama (53) – 5-0
2. Ohio State (6) – 4-0
3. Clemson (1) – 5-0
4. Michigan (1) – 5-0
5. Washington – 5-0
6. Houston – 5-0
7. Louisville – 4-1
8. Texas A&M – 5-0
9. Tennessee – 5-0
10. Miami (FL) – 4-0
