UofL FOOTBALL | Cardinals rematch against FSU quarterback
10/16/2015 11:30 AM
The Louisville Cardinals football team is quickly approaching one of, if not their toughest games of the season. Saturday at noon, the Cardinals kickoff in Doak Campbell Stadium against an unbeaten Florida State team. The Cards grabbed an early lead on the Seminoles last season at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, but ultimately lost the game 42-31.
The Noles are sporting a new quarterback this year after Jameis Winston was taken number one overall in the 2015 NFL draft, but this will not be the first time the Cards have played against FSU’s newest signal caller.
Everett Golson is now at the helm of the Florida State offense after transferring from Notre Dame earlier this year. Last season, the 23rd ranked Cardinals beat the Irish in South Bend. Golson threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort.
Golson has now surrounded himself with dynamic offensive weapons in running back Dalvin Cook, and his trio of talented wide receivers.
Louisville Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham knows that it is the same guy behind the line of scrimmage, but that familiarity will only carry the Cards so far.
