UofL FOOTBALL | Cardinals preparing mentally for first hostile environment

10/02/2015 06:30 AM

The Louisville football team heads on the road this weekend in search of their first ACC win against an undefeated NC State Wolfpack. The Cards have had no shortage of quality competition so far this year, but this could potentially be the toughest mental test for the team yet.

The Cardinals defense has a share of the lead for most interceptions so far this season, and they will hope to improve their record against a Wolfpack quarterback, Jacoby Brisset, who has yet to throw a pick. The Cards will also see the true improvements of a run defense that stifled Samford, but failed to contain any of the three teams prior. The run game will surely play a prominent role due to forecast inclement weather, and State will be handing the ball Matthew Dayes. Dayes is averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground this season, and has nine touchdowns.

Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham says if the Cards are going to be successful in Raleigh, it will start with a tough mentality.
