UofL FOOTBALL | Cards ranked fifth in latest playoff rankings

After a weekend of ranking shake-ups, the University of Louisville football team finds itself still outside of the top-4 teams in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.

Despite three teams in the top-4 losing over the weekend, Louisville finds itself in fifth place in the third week of the new ranking system.

The new top-6 according to the Playoff Committee:

  1. 1. Alabama

  1. 2. Ohio State
  1. 3. Michigan
  1. 4. Clemson
  1. 5. Louisville
  1. 6. Washington

The Cardinals moved up one spot from last week when they ranked sixth behind 1. Alabama, 2. Clemson, 3. Michigan, 4. Washington, and 5. Ohio State. But with the Tigers, Wolverines and Huskies all losing, a change was definitely coming. There is still plenty of opportunity for U of L to make the playoffs after last weekend, but the concern is growing of the playoff committee allowing two Big-10 teams into the playoff, and potentially a two-loss Big-10 team.

The Cards are on the road this week, preparing for an 8:00pm game this Thursday at the University of Houston.
