UofL BASKETBALL | What if Chinanu leaves?

05/14/2016 02:00 PM

Rick Pitino recently took to the airwaves in an interview with 93.9 The ‘Ville and was asked about star center Chinanu Onuaku and if he had talked with him throughout the draft process. PItino answered the question in part by saying he is not concerned if Onuaku does decide to turn pro. He feels confident in the big men in place to replace his production and only wants Onuaku to return if he plans on getting better.

The big speculation was how Onuaku would do in the NBA combine this weekend, and the answer to that is: really well. In two five-on-five scrimmages on Thursday and Friday, Onuaku averaged better than 10 points and five rebounds. He also shot an impressive 70 percent from the field. He also lined up multiple team interviews and private workouts. Onuaku has until May 25 to pull his name from consideration.
