12/28/2016 09:34 PM
The Louisville Cardinals, coming off a big win against the then 6th ranked Kentucky Wildcats, opened ACC play with a clunker against Virginia Wednesday night at the Yum Center.
The Cavaliers, known for their deliberate offense and stringent defense, was able to frustrate the Cardinals for most of the night, holding UofL to just 9 points in the first 12 minutes of the game as Virginia built a 15 point lead going into the break.
The second half started much like the first as Louisville appeared out of sync and out of sorts as the Virginia lead ballooned to 21 points before UofL closed out the game with an 18-5 run over the last 9 minutes of the game to keep the final score respectable at 61-53.
Quentin Snider, coming off a career high 22 points against UK, finished tonight with just 8 points and 1 assist.
Next up for UofL is a trip to Indianapolis to face an Indiana team that also lost at home tonight to Nebraska. That game is scheduled to tip this Saturday at 12:30pm
