UofL BASKETBALL | Upperclassmen leadership stems from care for their teammates

11/03/2015 11:30 AM

Not since 1987 have I seen a team like this. These words have been Louisville Basketball coach Rick Pitino’s narrative for months when addressing the chemistry and character of his 2015-16 team, a team with only four upperclassmen.

But those few upperclassmen have taken their leadership responsibility in stride, specifically starting guards and fifth year transfers Damien Lee, Trey Lewis, and red-shirt junior Mangok Mathiang. Coach Pitino knows one reason they are such effective floor generals, is they care strongly for their teammates.
