UofL BASKETBALL | University will appeal vacation of wins and loss of revenue

06/28/2017 03:40 PM

Interim University of Louisville president Greg Postel announced today that the University will go through with the appeals process regarding recent sanctions from the NCAA.

The school will not appeal each of the penalties given, but instead will focus on just two of them. UofL will notify the NCAA of its intent to appeal the vacation of wins in which players deemed ineligible by the NCAA have participated. The school will also appeal the forfeiture of revenue resulting from those victories.

Postel also clarified that UofL does not intend to appeal head coach Rick Pitino’s five game ACC suspension, but Pitino could potentially file a separate appeal.

The University has until Friday to officially notify the NCAA of the sanctions it intends to dispute, and then has 30 days to craft the formal appeal.
