10/16/2017 02:50 PM

The University of Louisville Athletic Association Board voted unanimously on Monday afternoon to fire UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino for “just cause.”

Late last month, Pitino was placed on unpaid administrative leave shortly after a federal investigation was revealed that was looking into fraud and corruption within college basketball.

Pitino became the head coach of the UofL men’s basketball program prior to the 2001-2002 season. He was head coach of the 2012-2013 national championship team at Louisville.

UofL interim president Dr. Greg Postel said on Monday afternoon that the Board of Trustees will have a conversation about the future of athletic director Tom Jurich on Wednesday.

In light of the news involving Rick Pitino Monday, Adidas has terminated its contract with Pitino. The company released a statement to Spectrum News: “In light of the decision by the University of Louisville, adidas has terminated its personal services agreement with Rick Pitino, effective immediately.”

The story will be updated as it continue to develops.
