UofL BASKETBALL | Tar Heels Too Much For Louisville

The No. 14/16 North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team (21-7, 10-5 ACC) visited the KFC Yum! Center Saturday night and downed the Louisville Cardinals (18-9, 8-6 ACC) 93-76.

Five UNC players scored in double-figures, led by senior guard Joel Berry’s 23 points. Berry also added five assists, eight rebounds, one block and one steal in his 36 minutes.

Louisville was led by junior forward Deng Adel, who returned to the court after missing the last two games due to a sprained ankle. Adel scored 20 points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 30 minutes.

Junior forward Ray Spalding added 18 for Louisville, notching a double-double with 12 boards. He had one assist, one block and two steals as well. Senior point guard Quentin Snider added 12.

UofL shot 45.2 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range, while Carolina went 48.6 percent and 44.4 percent, respectively.

UNC beat the Cards on the boards, out-rebounding them 44 to 32. They won the points in the paint battle 42-38 and dominated off second-chance points, 22-6. Louisville won the bench battle, outscoring the Heels 35-9, as well as off fast break (5-0).

The Cardinals are back in action Wednesday at No. 12 Duke. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. eastern.
