Today is the first of many busy days to come for college basketball coaches in the month of July. Today starts the first open evaluation period of the month, meaning college coaches can attend AAU tournaments, and scout up-and-coming high school athletes.

The two biggest events of the weekend are the Nike Peach Jam, part of the EYBL, and the Adidas uprising Gauntlet Finale.

The Louisville coaching staff sure to be represented at each event, watching current commits and high priority recruits. Louisville Basketball writer Jeff Greer joined the show, and says this recruiting period is all about making ground with Romeo Langford who plays for Adidas club, Twenty Two Vision.

Louisville already has two commitments for the 2018 class. Five star shooting guard Anfernee Simons, and four star point guard Courtney Ramey.

The Louisville coaches will certainly be in attendance when those two hit the court, but Greer elaborated on some of the frontcourt targets now that the backcourt is taken care of.

The U of L staff are very high on five star power forward Naz Reid. He is currently the seventh best prospect in the 2018 class according to ESPN’s Top-100. Reid has U of L in his top-7 schools and is playing on the Under-Armour circuit this summer with Team Izod.

Another Big man the Coaching staff is in the mix for is Moses Brown from Briarwood, NY. Brown is a five star center according to ESPN and is playing with the New Heights team also on the Under Armour Circuit.
