UofL BASKETBALL | Padgett Previews The Match-Up Against Miami

01/23/2018 04:25 PM

Wednesday night the Louisville Cardinals Men’s Basketball team (15-4, 5-1 ACC) will face off with the Miami Hurricanes (14-4, 3-3 ACC) at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

According to ESPN’s match-up predictor, the Cardinals only have a 26.2% chance of winning the game, despite UofL being 2-3 on the road this season and riding a four-game winning streak. The Cards begin this recent stretch of wins on the road at Florida State back on January 10th. Since then, they have also won on the road at Notre Dame for the first time since 1994, helping the Cards embrace the nickname “road warriors” and helping them gain confidence for their away games. Acting Head Coach David Padgett and freshman forward Jordan Nwora addressed the nickname in their Tuesday pregame press conference.

A Louisville basketball staple, good defense, is at least partly to credit for their road and conference successes. The Cards are averaging 7.3 blocks per game and 7.5 steals per game as compared to Maimi’s 4.3 BPG and 7.1 SPG. Padgett addressed the Louisville defense at his press conference.

The Cardinals are still outside of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, despite the win streak. They did receive 81 votes, while Miami received 83. Miami had dropped from No. 25 to un-ranked on Monday
