UofL BASKETBALL | Jeff Walz Skypes in from Four Nations Tournament in Tokyo

08/11/2017 10:26 AM

University of Louisville Women’s Basketball head coach Jeff Walz is in Tokyo, Japan right now. He is the head coach of the U.S. National U-23 team and is assisted by Western Kentucky head coach Michelle Clark-Heard and Princeton head coach Courtney Banghart.

Walz and Clark-Heard have a history of coaching together. The two have been freinds for nearly 20 years, and Clark-Heard was an assistant on Walz’s staff at Louisville.

Louisville guard Asia Durr is also taking part in the competition. Durr is no stranger to international competition either. She has had a couple of stints with USA National teams, on the U-19 and U-16 teams.

Walz Skyped into the Spectrum News studio on Friday to update Lyndsey Gough on the team’s outlook this weekend. The squad plays three games over the next three days. First up is the Australian national team on Saturday, followed by Canada on Sunday and Japan on Tuesday.
