The University of Louisville Athletic Association ratified the employment of David Padgett as acting head men’s basketball coach on Monday. The ULAA also released the details of Padgett’s contract, which could earn him up to $1 million over the next 12 months.

Padgett’s base salary from UofL is $400,000, and he will also earn $400,000 in other media, fundraising, and public relations obligations as the head coach.

On top of his base salary, Padgett has the opportunity to earn another $200,000 in incentives if he hits certain benchmarks over the course of the season. Those include finishing the year with a Top-20 national ranking according to the AP or Coaches polls, advancing through various rounds of the NCAA Tournament, and having players reach a collective grade-point average at or above a certain mark.

Padgett’s deal runs from September 29, 2017 through September 29, 2018.
