The University of Louisville announced David Padgett as the interim men’s basketball head coach on Friday afternoon.

Padgett was promoted before last season to a full time assistant coach under Rick Pitino. Prior to that, he served as UofL’s Director of Basketball Operations. A role that he had held since 2014. Before returning to Louisville Padgett served as an assistant coach at IUPUI from 2011-14.

Padgett played college basketball at Louisville from 2005-2008 and was a three-year starter for the Cardinals.
