09/07/2017 06:20 PM

UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino announced his team’s three captains on Thursday afternoon.

Seniors Anas Mahmoud and Quentin Snider, along with junior Deng Adel were each named captains of the 2017-2018 Cardinal basketball team.

Pitino said that the players and coaches each had a vote, and that Mahmoud ended up receiving the most votes.

Last year, Mahmoud averaged 5.7 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. He also blocked a shot in 29 of his 31 games last season.

Meanwhile, Snider is coming off a solid 2016 campaign, scoring 12.4 ppg. In fact, he is the Cards top returning scorer.

Adel averaged 12.1 ppg and 4.5 assists per game last season.

The Cards will open up their 2017-2018 season with an exhibition against Kentucky Wesleyan on Monday, Oct. 30 inside the KFC Yum! Center. Tip time is still yet to be determined.
