UofL BASKETBALL | Cardinals Ready For First-Round NCAA Tourney Game

03/16/2017 09:59 PM

The #2-seeded Louisville Cardinals are less than 24 hours away from playing their opening round NCAA Tournament match-up.

The Cards tip off against #15-seeded Jacksonville St. on Friday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET inside Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

For many players on the UofL roster, this will be their first taste of the NCAA Tournament, after the school self-imposed a postseason ban last year.

Despite the pressure of March Madness, the Louisville basketball team seems to be relatively relaxed. The players were having a good time in the locker room during Thursday’s media availability.

In fact, guard V.J. King decided to do his best journalist impression when he interviewed fellow guard Ryan McMahon.

A lot of the Gamecocks’ focus will have to be on UofL guard Donovan Mitchell if they hope to pull off the massive upset.

Mitchell is the Cards’ leading scorer this season, averaging 15.7 ppg.

Last time out, against Duke in the ACC Tournament, Mitchell got into foul trouble and had to take a seat on the bench for a longer period of time than he normally does.

He says he has learned to be more careful when on the court in order to prevent getting into foul trouble.
