UofL BASKETBALL | Can the Cards hang with number 3 Michigan State?

12/01/2015 11:30 AM

Monday the Louisville Cardinals made their way into the AP Top 25 for the first time this season. A 5-0 start got the Cards to 24th, but to stay in the rankings, Louisville will have to knock off one of the best teams in America.

Wednesday at 7:15pm ET, as part of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge, UofL will face 3rd ranked, 7-0 Michigan State. That’s right, the same Spartans team that eliminated the Cards in last year’s elite 8.

Michigan State has one of the top players in the nation in Denzel Valentine. The 6-5 Senior Guard is almost AVERAGING a triple double, 19.9 points a game, 8.9 rebounds and 8.6 assists.

The Cards are coming off a 20 point win over a good Saint Louis team, 77-57. Despite the win, the Cards were sloppy at times, and know they will have to clean up their problem areas, if they hope to hang with the Spartans.

Monday Tony Rawlings and I discussed the Cards to this point in the season and what they must do against Michigan State.
