10/17/2015 08:43 PM
Freshman Deng Adel had a game high 35 points as the Red team, made up primarily of second teamers, beat the White Squad (composed primarily of starters) 97-81. The White squad only led briefly in the second half 65-64, but the Red team went on a 9-0 run to put the game away.
The scrimmage featured a lot of scoring but not a lot of defense, as the first teamers almost gave up triple digits to their counterparts. For the Red squad, Junior David Levitch added 19 with Freshman Donovan Mitchell putting in 18 and junior Mangok Mathiang winding up with 15.
Damion Lee led everyone on the white team with 33 points and 13 rebounds. Fellow 5th year senior Trey Lewis pumped in 14.
After the game, Coach Pitino, who took no questions but merely made post game comments, said Damion Lee will be an important part of the Cardinals.
Pitino also praised his freshman, saying the sky is the limit.
The Cards next appearance will be in their pre season opener. Louisville will host Bellarmine on Sunday November 1st.
