Louisville Shortstop Devin Hairston singled in the winning run with one out in the ninth, as Louisville rallied to beat Kentucky 7-6. The victory was the second in a week for the Cardinals over their arch rivals. UofL won in Lexington last Wednesday 9-7. It’s also the fifth straight victory for the Cards against the Cats.

For much of this game, it looked to be a Kentucky victory. The Wildcats scored three times in the seventh to stretch their lead to 5-1. But the third ranked Cardinals would not give up. Corey Ray smacked a two run homer in the seventh, part of a three run inning, to cut the lead to 5-4. Then after UK scored again in the eighth, Louisville tied things up in the bottom of the inning, with Danny Rosenbaum scoring the tying run on a wild pitch.

Anthony Kidston pitched the ninth inning to pick up his first win. Logan Salow was tagged with the loss to even his record at 1-1. The victory is Louisville’s sixth straight overall, and improves the Cardinals to 30-7, while Kentucky falls to 23-13.

Next up for Louisville is a three game ACC Series at Boston College, Friday through Sunday. Meanwhile UK will host SEC foe Arkansas Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
