University of Louisville junior left-handed pitcher and first baseman Brendan McKay has been named one of four finalists for the 2017 Golden Spikes Award.

The award is presented each year to the top amateur baseball player in the nation. McKay has already earned two national Player of the Year honors and Wednesday’s honor marks the second consecutive season a Louisville player has been among the finalists for the Golden Spikes Award. Corey Ray earned that honor in 2016.

The nationally televised announcement of the winner will be on June 29 from Los Angeles.
