UofL BASEBALL | Ellis Named National Player of Month

05/08/2017 01:44 PM

Louisville infielder Drew Ellis has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s National Player of the Month for April.

Ellis hit .455 (30-of-66) in 19 games during the month. During that time, he had eight home runs, one triple and five doubles. Ellis had 22 RBI in April.

It’s the first time Ellis has ever been named a National Player of the Month.

His teammate, Brendan McKay, earned the award earlier this season for his play during the month of February.

The #2 Louisville Cardinals are on an 11-game winning streak as they head into a Tuesday night match-up against Vanderbilt. First pitch in the Battle of the Barrel is slated for roughly 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
