03/26/2016 07:15 PM

Sophomore Brendan McKay showed why he won the John Olerud two way player of the year award last season. Saturday afternoon the Lefty pitched 8 innings, striking out 9, and also smacking a home run to help his own cause, as Louisville pounded defending national champion Virginia, 11-4.
It’s the fifth time this season McKay has whiffed at least eight. McKay also allowed just one earned run, in upping his record to 5-1. Louisville improves to 18-5 overall, 5-3 in the ACC, while Virginia falls to 17-7, and 5-3.
Cards Sophomore Catcher Colby Fitch went 3-for-4 smacking his third home run of the season, along with a triple and three RBI. Junior outfielder Corey Ray smacked his seventh home run as well in the victory.
Saturday’s victory evened this three game series at a win a piece. The Finale is Sunday at 1 pm. Most Cardinal games, including this one, are free and open to the public. It will also be streamed on WatchESPN.
